Four Charge Alums Join Cavs in Training Camp

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Cavaliers are back and their 2020 training camp is now underway.  The Wine & Gold camp roster includes four players who have spent extended time in Canton with the Charge – Marques Bolden, Matt Mooney, Levi Randolph and Dean Wade.

Bolden (6-11, 250) appeared in one game for the Cavaliers last season after signing a 10-day contract on Jan. 30. He was also a member of the Cavaliers’ 2019 training camp roster and played in 38 games (27 starts) in 2019-20 with the Canton Charge, the Cavaliers’ exclusively owned and operated NBA G League affiliate, averaging 9.7 points on .596 shooting, 6.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 18.9 minutes. Bolden played three years collegiately at Duke from 2016-19, appearing in 88 games (24 starts) with averages of 3.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 13.6 minutes.

Mooney (6-2, 199) appeared in 18 games (16 starts) with the Canton Charge last season and averaged 13.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.7 steals in 32.8 minutes per game.  He was signed to a Two-Way contract with Cleveland on January 15, 2020 after appearing in 24 games (22 starts) last season for the Memphis Hustle, averaging 12.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.7 steals in 30.0 minutes per contest. The Chicago native went undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft after leading Texas Tech University to the school’s first-ever NCAA Final Four with averages of 11.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.8 steals in 31.0 minutes over 38 games (all starts) as a senior.

Randolph (6-6, 210) played in 39 games (all starts) in 2019-20 with the Canton Charge, averaging 16.9 points on .486 shooting, 5.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.1 steals in 34.6 minutes. Randolph was one of seven Charge players to receive an NBA Call-Up last season, a franchise record.  He has played in 139 career NBA G League games after a four-year career at Alabama where he was the first player of the program to be named to the CoSIDA/Capital One First Team Academic All-District Team for three consecutive years and was also named the 2015 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and second team All-SEC.

Wade (6-9, 219) originally signed a Two-Way contract with Cleveland on July 9, 2019 and appeared in 12 games for the Cavaliers this past season. He also played in 30 games (29 starts) with the Canton Charge, averaging 14.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.3 blocks in 31.1 minutes per contest. Wade went undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft after playing four years collegiately at Kansas State, where he was a two-time All-Big 12 First Team selection and finished his career ranking among the Top 10 in school history in career starts (123, second), double-digit scoring games (81, seventh), rebounds (685, eighth), field goals made (548, eighth) and points (1,510, 10th).
