Late Delaware Run Sinks Charge

ORLANDO, FL – The Canton Charge (4-9), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, fell to the Delaware Blue Coats (9-4) by a 103-99 score on Wednesday afternoon at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World.

After a close first half and a 54-48 lead, Canton came out of the gate with a with a 12-2 run to take a 16-point advantage. The Blue Coats kept threatening, with both teams exchanging baskets, but Antonio Blakeney knocked down a three-pointer with one second left on the clock to hold on to a seven-point lead going into the final quarter.

The Blue Coats kept chipping away at the deficit, eventually tying the game at 92-92 with just under three minutes to play.   After a Canton offensive foul, Delaware’s Michael Frazier II hit the go-ahead three-point bucket on the subsequent possession. The Blue Coats ultimately took the game with a 15-5 run to close out the fourth.

Mac and Two-Way Player Brodric Thomas each tallied 18 points to lead the offense with Mac shooting 50% from the floor and Thomas going 4-for-9 from behind the arc and tallying five assists. Blakeney came off the bench for 17 points in 27 minutes of action. Marques Bolden was relentless in the paint, notching a career-best seven blocked shots to go along with 14 points and nine boards 32 minutes of game time. Malachi Richardson rounded out the double-digit scorers with 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists in his first start of the season.

Delaware’s Paul Reed led all scorers with a double-double of 26 points and 12 rebounds in 28 minutes of action, including 14 points in the fourth quarter. Frazier II came off the bench for 18 points, shooting 50% from the floor, while Justin Robinson followed with 17 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds in 35 minutes.
