The Canton Charge, presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, have acquired guard Jorge Gutierrez (6-3, 195, California) as a returning player and waived guard Antonio Barton, the team announced today.
“Jorge is a point guard with proven NBA talent that is going to help us on both ends of the floor,” said Charge General Manager Mike Gansey. “We are excited to have him and his leadership back in Canton to help our team.”
Gutierrez has played in 100 career games in Canton over three seasons, with career averages of 12.1 points on .445 shooting with 5.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.6 steals in 31.6 minutes per game. He was twice named NBA D-League First Team All-Defense while with the Charge and has received call-ups from both the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks during his time in Canton.
Barton played in three games and averaged 1.0 point, 0.3 rebounds, and 0.3 assists in 10.3 minutes per game. The Charge roster now stands at 12, with 10 active players, Joe Harris on assignment from the Cavaliers, and one inactive player.
