Charge Downed By Bulls

CLEVELAND – The Canton Charge (8-11) fell to the Windy City Bulls (8-11), 117-87, on Thursday night at Quicken Loans Arena for Charge Night at The Q presented by Visit Canton.  The primetime matchup between divisional foes marked the first time the Charge, NBA G League affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers, played at its parent club’s arena.

Windy City’s defense took control in the first half, forcing 15 Canton Charge turnovers and holding the hosts to 30% shooting from the field.  Behind league-leading scorer Antonio Blakeney’s 17 first half points and Bulls’ assignee Cristiano Felicio’s first half double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds), Windy City pushed its lead to as high as 29 before taking a 56-30 lead into the break.

Blakeney and Felicio continued their offensive onslaught, combining for 19 points on 8-of-8 shooting in the third period and quieted a big third quarter from Charge guard London Perrantes (13 points).  Windy City held a 91-61 advantage entering the fourth quarter.

Windy City continued its shooting barrage in the final stanza, hitting six-of-seven attempts (86%) from three to help their lead swell to as much as 37, with Antonio Blakeney on the bench for the final 12 minutes.

Canton was paced by Marcus Thornton’s 19 points.  It is his third straight game leading the Charge in scoring after back-to-back 31 point performances last week.  Portland Trail Blazers’ assignee recorded a double-double in his NBA G League debut, tallying 10 points and 11 rebounds in 28 minutes of action.  Reserve guard Kevin Olekaibe provided a spark off the bench with 17 points.

Blakeney finished with a game-high 26 points in three quarters of play.  In just his second appearance for the Bulls this season, Felicio recorded his second double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds in 33 minutes of action.  Felicio stuffed the stat sheet by adding four assists, three steals and a game-high three blocks.  Karrington Ward came off the bench to score 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting in 27 minutes.
