Charge Fall at Home to Erie

CANTON, OH –   The Canton Charge (19-27), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, were defeated by the Erie BayHawks (26-19), 112-108, in front of 3,591 at the Memorial Civic Center on Sunday afternoon.  The loss eliminates the Charge from postseason contention, breaking their NBA G League leading streak of six straight playoff appearances that began with their first season in Canton in 2011-12.

The BayHawks had seven players score in double figures, led by John Gillon’s double-double of 20 points and 10 assists with two steals in 34 minutes.  Tyler Cavanaugh came off the bench to provide Erie with a double-double of 19 points on 7-of-9 from the field, 11 rebounds and two blocks in 22 minutes.  Jeremy Evans also tallied a double-double by scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 boards with three blocks in 32 minutes.  Craig Sword scored 16 points and grabbed two steals in 36 minutes for Erie.

Canton was led by Grant Jerrett’s game-high 21 points with 10 rebounds and five assists and two steals in 38 minutes.  JaCorey Williams added a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds in 34 minutes.  Scoochie Smith scored 12 points with six assists and two steals in 31 minutes.  Arthur Edwards contributed 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting off the bench for Canton, while Isaac Hamilton netted 11 points with four rebounds and six assists in 25 minutes starting at the three position.
