Canton Comes Up Short On Cavs Night

The Canton Charge (6-8), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, fell at the hands of the Windy City Bulls (6-8), 110-105, in front of 3,161 on Cavs Night at the Canton Memorial Civic Center on Friday night.

Canton trailed for a majority of the game and by as many as 23, finding themselves down 101-90 with 4:01 left in the fourth quarter.  Isaac Hamilton hit a 20 footer that began a 13-4 Charge run to pull the hosts within a bucket at 105-103 with 43.9 seconds left. Deep in the shot clock on the ensuing possession Windy City’s Antonio Blakeney took it to the rim for a driving layup and a four point cushion.  Canton couldn’t convert on their next two possessions and the Bulls were able to hold on for the win.

The Charge were led by JaCorey Williams’s 19 points with eight rebounds and two steals in 30 minutes.  Canton’s bench came up big in their effort tonight, outscoring the Windy City reserves 49-16.  Hamilton finished with 15 points and six boards in 23 minutes of relief, while Gerald Beverly posted a double-double of 10 points and 10 boards with two blocks in 21 minutes off the bench.  London Perrantes added a double-double of 12 points and 10 assists in 38 minutes

Blakeney led all scorers with 32 points, while grabbing eight rebounds and seven assists in 42 minutes.  Tyler Harris provided the visitors with a double-double, recording 23 points and 11 rebounds.  Fellow frontcourt mate Jaylen Johnson registered a double-double of his own with 18 points and 12 rebounds in 29 minutes.
