CANTON, OH – The Canton Charge, powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, have announced their training camp roster to begin preparations for the 2019-20 season, the team announced today. The group consists of four returning players, three affiliate players, two NBA G League Draft selections, three from local tryouts, two players acquired from trades and a pair of Cleveland Cavaliers Two-Way Players.
“We have a very talented group of players who are all excited to get to Canton and get to work,” said Head Coach Nate Reinking. “It’s a short preseason so we will need to take advantage of every day to learn and come together as a team.”
In today’s NBA G League Draft, Canton took Alan Herndon with the 9th overall pick and Alex Stein with the 12th overall choice before deferring their final two selections. The Charge also traded the rights to Gary Payton II to the South Bay Lakers in exchange for the rights to Robert Heyer, the 8th overall selection in today’s draft, Sheldon Mac, and South Bay’s first round pick in 2020. Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman, Malik Newman, Sir’Dominic Pointer and Levi Randolph all return to the Charge from last season.
A pair of forwards in Dean Wade and Tyler Cook will come to Canton as Two-Way Players with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Marques Bolden, J.P. Macura and Alex Robinson all join the Charge as affiliate players after signing Exhibit 10 deals with the Cavs. Tyler Harris makes the training camp roster after Canton acquired his rights in a trade earlier this month. Three players will be in training camp via the team’s local tryouts last month: Ryan Boulter, Supreme Hannah and TySean Powell.
Training camp begins at the team’s official practice facility, Edgewood Community Center, on Monday, October 28th. Final rosters will be set at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November, 7th. Below is the complete list of players (as of 10/29/19):
