Official Release | November 1, 2016

The Canton Charge, powered by the NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers, have finalized their training camp roster for the start of the 2016-17 season, the team announced today.  The group consists of 15 players with various collegiate and professional backgrounds acquired through the 2016 NBA Development League Draft, returning players, trades, open tryouts and the affiliate player rule.

Canton will have seven returning players in training camp, highlighted by last season’s NBA D-League Rookie of the Year Quinn Cook.  Chris Crawford, Mike Dunigan, Jon Horford, and Kevin Olekaibe all return to Canton from last season.  The Charge also held returning player rights for Justin Johnson and Mike Williams to come to camp.

Jonathan Holmes and Eric Moreland spent time in NBA training camp with the Cavaliers and come to Canton via the affiliate rule.  Holmes appeared in six preseason games with Cleveland and averaged 9.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in 17.4 minutes per game.

All five players selected in the Charge’s 2016 draft class will be coming to camp, highlighted by 19th overall selection, Roosevelt Jones.  Local Kent State product Chris Evans is the lone invite from open tryouts.

Charge Head Coach Nate Reinking has also finalized his staff for the upcoming 2016-17 season.  Melvin Ely and Sam Jones come to Canton as Assistant Coaches under Reinking, while Tyler Neal has been added as a Seasonal Coaching Assistant.
