CANTON, OH – The Canton Charge (15-23) topped the Midwest Division leading Oklahoma City Blue (20-18), 106-101, at home Wednesday night. The Charge are now winners of two straight games and have extended its home winning streak vs. Oklahoma City to five games all-time.
Trailing 11-8 early in the first quarter, the Charge went on a 13-0 run to jump out to a 21-11 lead. The Charge would lead by as many as 13 in the first stanza before taking a 32-21 lead into the second quarter. Eight second quarter points from reserve guard Isaac Hamilton helped lead a surge that saw the Charge lead inflate to as many as 20 heading into the break, 63-43. John Holland paced Canton with 15 first half points.
An Isaac Hamilton layup with 50.8 remaining in the third quarter gave the Charge its largest lead of the night, 88-62. Oklahoma City Blue forward Daniel Hamilton scored 17 fourth quarter points to help cut the Charge lead to just three with 13.4 seconds remaining. Two successful trips to the free throw line from Holland and JaCorey Williams staved off the Blue’s feverish comeback, holding on for the 106-101 victory.
Assigned prior to tipoff, Cavaliers’ forward Ante Zizic scored a season-high 26 points on 12-of-17 shooting while grabbing 13 rebounds en route to his fifth double-double of the season. Roosevelt Jones stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, 13 rebounds and seven assists in 29 minutes of action. London Perrantes scored five points and dished out a game-high 12 assists, while fellow Cavaliers Two-Way Player John Holland added 19 points.
Oklahoma City Thunder Two-Way player Daniel Hamilton scored 27 points while recording eight assists and six rebounds in 39 minutes. PJ Dozier added 23 points and a team-high nine rebounds in 37 minutes. Bryce Alford , Yannis Morin and Michael Carrera each scored in double figures off of the bench for the Blue.
