GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The Canton Charge (9-14), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, took a 3-0 season series lead after a 102-98 defeat of the Grand Rapids Drive (13-13),
Canton’s Marcus Thornton led all scorers with 29 points in 10-of-20 shooting in 41 minutes. Kevin Olekaibe came off the bench to add 15 points and seven boards in 37 minutes. Portland’s Caleb Swanigan scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds in 31 minutes on assignment. JaCorey Williams added 18 points on 9-of-13 shooting with five rebounds and two steals in 37 minutes.
Eight players tallied double digit scoring for Grand Rapids, led by the double-double of Derek Willis – scoring 14 points with 12 rebounds in 30 minutes. Landry Nnoko scored 12 points with three steals in 36 minutes. Kenneth Smith had an all-around effort of 10 points, five rebounds and seven assists in 36 minutes.
