The Canton Charge (8-8), powered by the NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers, defeated the Greensboro Swarm (6-13), 124-95, Wednesday night in front of 3,198 fans at the Memorial Civic Center. The 29-point difference is the largest margin of victory for the Charge this season. Canton leads the season series with the expansion Swarm 2-0, with two more matchups to come in the new year.
Assigned to the Charge earlier today, Cleveland Cavaliers rookie guard Kay Felder scored a game-high 33 points while grabbing seven rebounds and dishing seven assists in 38 minutes. Fellow backcourt mate Quinn Cook chipped in 32 points, five rebounds and six assists in 38 minutes. Tonight marks the second time this season Charge teammates have eclipsed the 30 point mark, the last coming on 11/20 at Westchester (Cook – 31, Chris Evans – 31).
Charge forward Eric Moreland etched his name in the team record books, hauling in a franchise-best 22 rebounds while adding 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting in 36 minutes. Tonight’s double-double marks the fourth of Moreland’s season and the 11th of his NBA D-League career. John Holland added 21 points on 8-of-17 shooting with six rebounds and two assists in 36 minutes. In two contests versus Greensboro this season, Holland is averaging 22 points and 6.5 rebounds in 36.5 minutes per game.
Greensboro’s Archie Goodwin led the way for the Swarm by netting 25 points on 11-of-18 shooting with 12 rebounds in 41 minutes. Christian Wood recorded a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds in 27 minutes. Greensboro surrendered the ball 17 times for 19 Canton points, while the hosts had just nine turnovers for nine Swarm points.
